Where all of this comes from.

Nagrik does not produce data. It collects the records Bengaluru’s civic bodies already publish — tenders, ward boundaries, officers’ directories — and puts them on one map. Everything below is a public record. This page says exactly which one, and what to do when we get something wrong.

This is not an official government site.

Nagrik is an independent civic-data project, not affiliated with or operated by any municipal corporation or government body. Records here are copies, and copies go stale. Before you rely on anything — a tender value, a deadline, an officer’s phone number — verify it with the body directly. Every record links back to its official source for exactly that reason.

The 369 ward boundaries of all five city corporations
OpenCity mirrors the 369-ward map, checked against gazette notifications. GBA's live map still shows the older 198 wards; its current maps are PDFs.

Which corporation each ward belongs to, and its name in Kannada
Five corporations replaced BBMP in 2025. Ward numbers restart in each, so Nagrik always names the corporation alongside the ward.
Greater Bengaluru Authority
Tenders from 2026 onward for every civic body, awarded as well as open
Karnataka's portal lists open and awarded tenders, contacts and winning bidders. It omits award values. Details from pages that no longer load stay unavailable.

Senior officers of the Authority and of all five city corporations
GBA and corporation directories sometimes name different people for a post; both sources are retained. State ministers are excluded from the officer directory.

Official district directories list officers and contacts. These are separate from GBA and the five city corporations.

Officers come from signed orders, read and translated by hand. Only West's order uses current ward numbers. Other officers stay unassigned to wards. Misprinted phone numbers are omitted.

How current it is

Tenders from 2026 onward and senior officers refresh nightly.
The portal names contacts and winning bidders but omits award values. Unreadable pages leave details unavailable.
The 2025 boundaries cover 369 wards in five corporations and are updated when redrawn.
Ward officer orders are checked nightly for changes and re-read by hand when replaced.
No councillors are listed. Bengaluru has had no elected council since 2015.

What we will not do

We never invent a record to fill a gap. Where an authority does not publish something — a councillor’s phone number, a ward’s zone — Nagrik shows nothing rather than a plausible guess. A blank means the government has not published it, not that we forgot to look.

Officials’ contact details

Nagrik republishes the names, designations, office phone numbers and official email addresses that these bodies already publish in their own public directories. These are official points of contact for public duties, reproduced so a resident can reach the person accountable for their ward. No personal or private contact information is collected, inferred, or shown. If you are named here and want your entry corrected or removed, write to us.
